Ruffled red tuberous begonia petals flare out like a flamenco dancer’s skirt
Begonias are such beautiful plants, whether grown for their luscious colors and ruffled petals like the tuberous begonia bloom in the photo above, or for their striking shape and patterned foliage, as is the case with Rex Begonias such as ‘Escargot.’
I was given a collection of tuberous begonias at one point, and was amazed and delighted when they broke their winter dormancy and began to bloom. Each plant put on its own unique show, all the while complimenting the variety of colors and shapes of the other begonias blooming nearby. Unfortunately I had to give up these begonias during a move, so it brought back fond memories when I saw this beautiful red begonia many years later.
